Film Buffs Will Love the Selection at Thrifty Shopper
Time to bolster your film collection! Whether we like to admit it or not, summer is officially behind us. In the coming weeks, days will get shorter, temperatures cooler. Many of us will find ourselves going through a natural transition at this time of year. After our fall activities pass and the winter winds take hold, what is left to keep us occupied? For many the answer is simple. When the snow falls and we feel trapped inside our homes, we escape through the wonder of film.
In these modern times, we find ourselves turning on our smart TVs and opening our preferred streaming app. Well, as I’m sure you all know, those apps can only offer so much. That is where the Thrifty Shopper comes in. The first thing I do when I walk into my local Thrifty is search through the books; the second is locate the film rack.
I can’t begin to tell you how many great films I’ve scored from Thrifty Shopper. The selection can’t be beaten, and neither can the prices. Whether you’re looking for family favorites, a new scary movie to get into the Halloween spirit, or a new television series to binge, Thrifty has you covered. They even carry old VHS films like the ones you used to watch when you were a kid!
During two visits over the last few weeks, I came across three great finds. First, season one and two of Castle, the hit crime series with a wonderful sense of humor. Ever since discovering Nathan Fillion via Firefly, I knew I wanted to watch this show. The problem was it wasn’t streaming on my subscriber services and purchasing it new was a bit expensive.
Thanks to Thrifty Shopper, I can now enjoy the first two seasons for the low price of $8. That’s four bucks a season! From there I can decide if it’s worth searching out the remaining seasons. Who knows, if I’m patient, I might stumble upon them at a Thrifty sooner than I think.
My second score was a five-disc collection of The Godfather trilogy. If you have seen the Godfather films, I don’t have to tell you what a great find this was. At $5, I paid $1 per disc. Good luck finding that elsewhere. If you haven’t seen the films, do yourself a favor and keep an eye out at your local Thrifty. I see them turn up more often than you may think. If you find it, I highly recommend grabbing it!
Over the coming months when the snow and temperatures fall, I’ll inevitably feel that cabin fever taking hold. Knowing that Thrifty Shopper is there offering plenty of films to keep me busy, I say bring it on!
