In addition to using donations to increase profits in our Thrifty Shopper and 3Fifteen stores, we use our donations to for our Community Clothing Center in Syracuse.  Clients and/or community members in need are welcome to select clothing, household and hygiene items – free of charge. Every week the manager requests items based on specific needs – and we use donations to fulfill those needs.

You are welcome to donate directly at our main office, 155 Gifford Street Syracuse and ‘skip’ our ordering process. However, you are also welcome to donate to any of our Thrifty Shopper or Attended Donation Centers and feel confident that the profit gained from store sales is used to support our programs and services in Syracuse, Auburn, and Binghamton.

Clothing that is unsuitable for our retail stores (ripped, stained, missing buttons, etc) or that did not sell in a store is baled and sold in bulk as ‘mixed rags’.  Once sold, these items can be processed into stuffing, carpet padding, insulation, or cut and sold as rags, or can be converted into a new textile.

This year over 4.8 million items have been resold in our stores and kept out of landfills. Additionally, we have recycled over 14.2 million pounds of books, clothing, shoes, toys, cardboard, electronics and metal.

With the exception of 3Fifteen SU, all of our locations have a kids department filled with clothing, toys and other inventory that changes daily.  Additionally, our Thrifty Shopper Outlet, located in Shop City Plaza, offers 75% off all clothing, all the time.  I encourage you to visit all of our locations and pick your favorite!

Our Thrifty Shopper locations have color tag sales that run weekly beginning on Sundays (one color 50% off, another color 70% off).  Our 3fifteen locations have select items 50% off (look for blue tags).  We will be having additional promotions in September and again in October.  If you are a Rewards member, you will receive details closer to the event via email and text.  If not, feel free to like or follow ishopthrifty on social media!

We will gladly accept coats of any kind, in any condition.  Your donation can be used to help individuals staying in our 24-hr emergency shelter, our assisted living facility, our family housing, or those in the community who visit our Community Clothing Center.

Please let us know if you would like a collection box for your location, the timing of your coat drive, and if there is anything else we can do to support your efforts.

This past September we celebrated our 135th anniversary of the Rescue Mission. We are the area’s largest provider of emergency housing services, and are the only agency to serve three meals per day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. We are also the only organization dedicated to full-time street outreach six days a week. In addition to these services, our Community Clothing Center welcomes clients and members of the community to select clothing, household, and hygiene items they may need, free of charge.

In addition to our emergency shelter, we provide permanent housing solutions to help tackle the long-term effects of homelessness.  For some men, we provide group care at the Crossroads Adult Home. Many other men, women, and families benefit from our permanent, supportive housing programs in Syracuse, Binghamton, and Auburn. In addition to housing, our case managers provide continued guidance, structure, and encouragement to help our residents achieve true independence and avoid sliding back into homelessness.

Thank you again for your donations as we rely on the net profit of those donated items, Thrifty Shopper and 3Fifteen retail stores to pay for the services we offer in Syracuse, Auburn and Binghamton.
